Man Utd supporters slept at Old Trafford to raise funds and awareness for young people experiencing poverty and hardship during the winter months.
Manchester United supporters helped raise more than £40,000 for charity by taking part in a stadium sleep out at Old Trafford in support of vulnerable young people .
It is estimated that almost 136,000 young people in the UK were homeless or at risk of homelessness last year. Over the course of last season, the Foundation supported more than 25,000 young people by delivering community and education programmes across Greater Manchester. “It’s a fantastic cause and a great turnout on a horrible night, but we’ll have a few laughs along the way as well and keep it light-hearted, but the main thing is plenty of money being raised for the Foundation and Centrepoint. I’m absolutely buzzing to be part of it.”
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, John Shiels MBE, Chief Executive of Manchester United Foundation, expressed his gratitude to those sleeping out. “Our Old Trafford sleep out was such a humbling experience for the 100-plus supporters who selflessly bedded down for the night, in aid of Manchester United Foundation and Centrepoint.
Julie Milnes, Director of Fundraising at Centrepoint, added: “We’re so grateful to everyone who took part in the second Old Trafford sleep out who have raised vital funds for both Manchester United Foundation and Centrepoint.
