Erik ten Hag's idea of his best Man Utd starting XI has changed this season due to form and fitness issues and there are reasons to think more alterations are coming.
When this season began Erik ten Hag would have had a pretty good idea of his strongest Manchester United team and 10 of them started on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
Against Wolves on the first weekend of the season, he could pick all of what looked like his strongest team, aside from Rasmus Hojlund, who was still recovering from a back injury. Three months later the team looks unrecognisable, in terms of personnel and style. Amrabat has failed to convince as a holding midfielder since his arrival on loan from Fiorentina and has now fallen behind Scott McTominay in the ranks, while Reguilon has been respectable as an emergency left-back signing but is in and out of the team.
Those changes mean Varane has been dropped and Mason Mount is also out of the side. There is pressure on Ten Hag to make the £55million signing of Mount work and he needs to find a way to eventually bring him back in from the cold.
