Manchester United have appointed the stadium designers behind Tottenham's new stadium to design a 'new' Old Trafford.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to build a new stadium Manchester United have appointed Populous – the designers behind Tottenham’s new stadium – to design a new 100,000-seater stadium for the Red Devils. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has appointed a taskforce that includes Lord Seb Coe and Gary Neville to oversee plans for the future of the stadium and its surrounding area.
‘I think that then provides a platform for some of the big competitions in the north of England. Why shouldn’t England play in the north? Why is the FA Cup final always in the south?’ And the Daily Mail say Populous are overseeing designs for a new stadium. Some of these designs have already been seen by Ratcliffe and INEOS. Tottenham’s stadium was opened in 2019 But the club will wait on the recommendations of the taskforce, which have more to consider than simply just the stadium.

Manchester United's Old Trafford considers 'red route' schemes to tackle obstructive parkingObstructive car parking around two of the busiest routes past Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium has forced town hall bosses to consider introducing 'red route' schemes. Trafford council says the plans will improve journey times, reduce congestion and improve air quality - by managing start/stopping vehicle movements - on parts of the A56 and A5801 in Stretford and Trafford Park. The red routes would also provide a safer environment for people, walking, cycling, wheeling and driving, by discouraging obstructive and dangerous parking, council chiefs say. The authority, working with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), has launched a consultation asking the public to share their views on the proposed scheme. Concerns have been raised by the council, local residents, Greater Manchester Police and TfGM regarding congestion and road safety issues, particularly over events hosted in the Old Trafford area, including Old Trafford Football Stadium and Victoria Warehouse.
