The shocking attack took place outside Aldi on Heywood Way, Salford just before 4.30pm.
A man has been rushed to hospital after he was stabbed "for his shopping" as he made his way across a busy car park.
"His car is still there outside the Aldi now. The whole area has been cordoned off. The shopping centre and everywhere else has had to close. GMP confirmed in a statement that officers were dispatched to supermarket car park after receiving reports of a stabbing at roughly 4.25pm. Detective Sergeant Gareth Bannister of GMP’s Salford District said: "I would like to reassure the public first and foremost that this is an isolated incident, and our officers are leaving no stone unturned to locate the suspect in question.
