A man shot by San Diego police after he reportedly pointed a gun at officers had been armed with a BB gun, a homicide lieutenant said Thursday.who had come to the home on Bonnie View Drive after the man reportedly threatened to shoot his parents and himself.The names of the man and of the sergeant who shot him likely will not be released until next week, after detectives present the case to the county District Attorney’s Office, said Lt.
Officers met up in nearby park to come up with a plan to take him into custody. Brown said the plan included using less-lethal options, including possibly releasing a police dog. Capt. Rich Freedman said the father told police his son was “acting suicidal” and threatening him and his 89-year-old wife “with a loaded firearm.”
