A Houston man was sentenced to life in prison Monday after being convicted of murder overAndrew Williams, 41, was found guilty of capital murder in the death of Martha Medina. Medina, 71, died on Sept. 23, 2021. Williams and two other men followed Medina from a bank to the restaurant in east Houston. When Medina came out of the restaurant, the men knocked her to the ground and took her purse.
Williams was arrested about a month after the robbery. His trial began on March 29. The jury returned a guilty verdict on Monday.The murder cases against the two other men alleged to have been involved in the robbery are still pending., according to court records. In 2019, he was arrested and charged with capital murder, along with three other men, in connection to the fatal shooting of Chima Ogbonnaya.
Ogbonnaya was shot in Spring during what police described as a drug deal gone wrong. Charges against Williams and at least one of the other men are still pending, according to court records.in criticizing Democratic district court judges over bail practices and other issues ahead of the 2022 elections.
