The Cumberland County man was previously charged with assaulting the woman and ordered to stay away from her, authorities said.
A judge sentenced a Cumberland County man this week to 28 years in prison following his guilty plea to charges that he killed a female acquaintance and tried to hide her body.
In the homicide investigation, witnesses told police Spann and DuBois argued in a vacant Bridgeton warehouse on the night of May 21, authorities said. The dispute, which was about “another male,” turned violent, according to court documents. He also told police he found the two witnesses from the previous night on the morning of May 22 and asked them to help move the body “to conceal it further,” investigators wrote in the affidavit.
While prosecutors sought Spann’s pre-trial detention in that case, their motion was denied and he was released from custody April 8 with an order that he have no contact with DuBois.
