Comperatore was a former fire chief from the area who loved his family, Shapiro said.“He was a good person,” Achilles told the Trib on Sunday morning. “We might not have agreed on the same political views, but that didn’t stop him from being a good friend and neighbor.”from Comperatore’s family: His daughter, Allyson Comperatore, wrote that her father died “a real-life superhero,” who quickly threw her and her mother to the ground when gunfire started at the rally.
“He shielded my body from the bullet that came at us. He loved his family. He truly loved us enough to take a real bullet for us,” she wrote.and resilience as shocked leaders across the political divide recoiled from the shooting that left him wounded but “fine” and the gunman and a rallygoer dead.“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” he wrote on his social media site.
