Police received an emergency call reporting concerns for the safety of a man
Cheshire Police received a 999 call from Pickering's Pasture at Hale Bank, Widnes at 9.09am reporting concerns for the safety of a man. Officers arrived at the scene on Mersey View Road a short time later and found a Silver Ford Fusion had entered the River Mersey.
Pictures from the scene this afternoon showed a large police presence including an underwater search and rescue team. The Coastguard and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were also called to the scene.A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: "At around 9.09am this morning , officers responded to concerns for the safety of a man in Widnes. Officers attended the scene on Mersey View Road, Widnes, where a Silver Ford Fusion was found in the River Mersey.
