Video footage seen by the Glasgow Times showed the man in an altercation outside a premises on George Square in Glasgow.
He is then threatened with a chair before being charged at with a flagpole in front of horrified bystanders.
In what appears to be a desperate bid to defend himself, he punches the two youths who are then seen stumbling to the ground in shock.A Glasgow Times reporter was nearby the incident and took photographs of the aftermath.
