Selby Road is shut in Leeds at the junction with York Road following the crash
The accident took place at 5.20am this morning. A black BMW 320D travelling along Selby Road towards York Road crashed into some railings.
"The BMW driver, a 31-year-old man, has been taken to hospital. His injuries are said to be life-threatening. If you witnessed the crash, you can contact the Roads Policing Unit with any information on 101 or by accessing the West Yorkshire Police website. You can use the log reference 189 of 24 October.
