BREAKING: Man fighting for his life after horror smash as motorway shut for hours
The smash happened on the northbound carriageway between junction four at Simister Island for the M60/M62 and junction three for Pilsworth at around 7.15pm last night . Two vehicles were involved, police said.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. The northbound stretch of the motorway was fully closed off after the crash last night. PC Karl Horner, from GMPs Serious Collision Investigation Unit, thanked members of the public for their patience with the delays. He urged any witnesses of the crash to come forward.
"We would also like to appeal to any witnesses of this accident, or anyone who has dash-cam footage and was driving on the M66 northbound minutes before the incident, to come forward. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
