Investigators had been conducting a narcotics sting near the 16000 block of the North Freeway when a man in a vehicle fled the scene, Yasar Bashir, an assistant chief with the Houston Police Department, told On Scene reporters. Officers gave chase.During the pursuit, the person in the vehicle fired shots at the officers, Bashir said.
Police got out of their cars and heard a gunshot, Bashir said. They asked the man to get out of the car and got no response, before finding him with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
