A 37-year-old Nottingham man has appeared in court having been charged with murdering a fellow inmate at HMP Nottingham and attempting to murder a man in Edwalton. Dressed in a grey tracksuit Andrew Thorpe spoke only to confirm his name when he appeared over a video-link from HMP Nottingham into Nottingham Crown Court.
The separate attempted murder charge relates to an incident in Edwalton. Officers were called to a house in Wheatcroft Drive, at 12.45am on Wednesday, May 29, after reports a man had been repeatedly stabbed.The victim, a man in his 20s, was hospitalised following the alleged assault where he remained in a stable condition for a number of days. The defendant, of Alfred Street North, St Ann’s, was later charged with attempted murder and possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.
