He was caught sleeping in a car which did not belong to him in the city's Croftfoot.
The 40-year-old was earlier picked up after entering motor vehicles which did not belong to him.Smith hurled abuse at a paramedic who tried to help him from one of the cars he was found sleeping in.Smith pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
He also admitted assaulting a paramedic and PC Kay, as well as stealing power tools from a van and possession of a knife in a public space without a reasonable excuse or lawful authority. The court heard Smith was caught sleeping in a car which did not belong to him in the city's Croftfoot.He told one paramedic:"I'm going to punch you on the face."
The owner of the car Naveed Baqai appeared with his mother Zakia Baqai who were called"black b******s."Smith then entered a Honda Civic at the driver's side where it is thought he made an attempt to drive off.Mr Baqai meantime recorded the incidents and followed Smith who then entered a Mercedes Sprinter van.Smith went on to enter a garden where he picked up a stone and threw it at Mr Baqai but missed.Police caught up with the dad-of-one and arrested him.
Sheriff Daniel Kelly said:"This is a serious matter given your record, a custodial sentence is an appropriate disposal."
