Eamon Duffy will be sentenced in early June
A 36-year-old Nottinghamshire man has admitted a number of charges including robbing a man in the street and stealing a different victim’s electronic bike. Eamon Duffy admitted the second charge when he appeared from police custody at Nottingham Crown Court.
After entering his plea, and in an outburst from the dock, the defendant claimed he had only been written to twice by his solicitor during the six months he has been behind bars on remand and tried to sack his barrister, Steve Gosnell. But after strong advice from Judge Mark Watson that by doing so he could jeopardise having any legal representation at all when he is sentenced, Duffy, later changed his mind.At an earlier hearing the defendant, of Jephson Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, pleaded guilty to robbery from an incident which took place in Hoefield Crescent, Bulwell, on the afternoon of October 27 last year.
The victim in that case was left with injuries to his head and told the police he was attacked when he saw a man trying to break into a parked car. The theft of the £2,600 bike took place a month earlier, on September 23.
