The Long Branch man was actually chatting with an undercover officer, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
A 66-year-old man who thought he was meeting 13-year-old girl in Belmar to have sex was instead arrested by law enforcement, authorities said Thursday.
Samuel H. Christopher, of Long Branch, agreed to a time and location for the encounter following chats with an undercover officer posing as a teenager that had been ongoing since earlier this summer, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said. Christoper was charged with luring, attempted sexual assault of a minor, attempted endangering and attempted criminal sexual contact with a minorAdditional information about the incident wasn’t immediately available. It also wasn’t clear if Christopher had yet hired an attorney. The FBI and the prosecutor’s office worked together during the investigation.
