Authorities say a man and a 10-year-old boy were killed in a drive-by shooting in Philadelphia.
PHILADELPHIA — Authorities say a man and a 10-year-old boy were killed in a drive-by shooting in Philadelphia hours after another drive-by claimed the life of a 1-year-old boy in Pittsburgh on the other side of the state — and on a violent holiday weekend that saw at least eight other homicides in Philadelphia.
Inspector D.F. Pace told reporters that at least 13 rounds came from two separate weapons, striking both victims multiple times. The man and boy were taken to separate hospitals where both were pronounced dead. Their names haven’t been released. Authorities said the child was killed by gunfire at an intersection not far from Market Square and the PPG Place complex at around 2:45 p.m. Sunday. Assistant Chief Lavonnie Bickerstaff said neither the child nor his mother were the intended target. Officials said the vehicle had been recovered in the city’s Troy Hill neighborhood and on Monday announced homicide and criminal conspiracy charges against 26-year-old Londell Falconer.
