KUALA LUMPUR/SINGAPORE: Malaysia’s opposition has ebbed away at the government’s sway in powerbases Selangor and Penang even as it retains control of its own home turfs with a tighter stranglehold, unofficial polling results on Saturday evening show.
PN also went from zero seats to at least one in the Negeri Sembilan state, which is also controlled by the ruling Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional coalition spearheaded by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.Hopes, frustration and resolve on display as voting kicks off to a slow start in Malaysian state polls
PN is leading in Kedah with 33 seats as opposed to the three seats won by PH-BN. This is an improvement from PN’s 20 seats before the assembly was dissolved. PN is also leading comfortably in stronghold Kelantan with a 42-2 scoreline in the 45-seat house, FMT’s tally shows.
