Ryan Walklett will attempt to run the race in under four hours while dressed in a bodysuit and a high ponytail.
A hair and make-up artist is attempting to become the fastest male drag queen to run the London Marathon in a bid to break the stigma around sport and the LGBTQ+ community.
The hair and make-up artist told the PA news agency: “In my head, the connotation between sport and my job was never a correlation. He said his drag outfit, which has similar colours to the Terrence Higgins Trust logo, was inspired by drag queen A’Whora, who appeared on the second series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, and by the USA relay team running gear.
Mr Walklett said he will be hosting a series of wig sales to raise his target of £3,500 for the Terrence Higgins Trust, a charity which helped him through school. “It was charities like the Terrence Higgins Trust that I wanted to be educated on how to live safely and navigating sexual health.He said the charity has been “really supportive” and praised the work it is doing to help young people within the LGBTQ+ community.
