For those who aren't Christian and may not be familiar with the significance of the holiday, it commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after he was crucified. His resurrection fulfilled prophecies of the Old Testament and the revelation of"God's salvific plan for all humankind."But, as the country veers further and further from God and religion, what used to be celebrated as the holiest of days is now often overlooked by many in the country.
My epiphany stems from a trip to the grocery store earlier this week when I noticed a sign listing the location's Easter hours. Opens at 6 a.m., closes at 7 p.m., the sign read. And my immediate thought was that some people would have to work a full day on Easter. Things didn't use to be this way. It may be hard to believe in today's world after years of Democrats fighting to remove God from society.
More people believed in God, more people were religious, more people had a better set of core values. They cared more about helping others than they do today. They had a greater sense of righteousness and integrity. However, the Left killed much of that as it spent decades trying to remove God and Christianity from everyday lives.
It's indicative of the sad reality of how far our country has fallen and the sheer madness left-wing political orthodoxy has caused in the nation. We were once taught we had rights endowed by our Creator; we are now indoctrinated to think our liberties are given to us by elected officials. The Left replaced worshipping God, and government became the preferred deity.
