Some parts of New York could see a foot of snow or more from a winter storm set to hit the region Monday.
A powerful winter storm is approaching the tri-state area and could bring as much as a foot of snow in some parts of New York.
New York City and Long Island should only see rain and a coating of snow and rainfall, but some parts of the city's northern suburbs could see significant snowfall. Scattered snow and rain showers will begin Monday morning before precipitation picks up Monday night and turns to snow Tuesday.The city should see 1.5 to 2.5 inches of rain, but six inches or more of snow could fall in the Hudson Valley, southwestern Connecticut, and parts of northern New Jersey. Some parts of Ulster and Dutchess Counties could see a foot or more of snow.
A coastal flood advisory has been issued for tonight along the South Shore Bays of Nassau County and Queens. Snowfall totals could be significantly changed by the track of the storm, which still has the potential to shift.
