Emergency services were alerted at 3am on Friday morning following the incident near Marykirk.
A major search is underway today following reports of a man trapped in a vehicle in floodwater in Aberdeenshire.
A Coastguard helicopter is currently at the scene along with other rescue agencies. Locals say the helicopter has been conducting searches along the River North Esk all morning.
