The A6 London Road has now reopened
A major Stockport road has reopened this evening after it was taped off for hours following a ' serious collision '.
Emergency services raced to the A6 London Road at around 12:30pm on Thursday after a 'serious collision'. Pictures from the scene showed a white car smashed into a lampost with a huge police and ambulance presence in place. It is understood the air ambulance also landed on a nearby field. A police cordon remained in place on London and Buxton Roads until around 7pm as accident recover investigators worked. The road has now been fully reopened after the closure caused hours of traffic chaos.

The exact details of the incident and any casualties are still unknown. The Manchester Evening News has contacted Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance service for more information.
