The incident is between junctions 21 and 22 near Leicester
Traffic on all lanes of the M1 northbound has been halted due to a crash. The Inrix traffic service said in an update at 8.35am today : "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M1 Northbound from J21A A46 to J22 A50 ."
There has been no word yet from Leicestershire Police or Highways England about the incident. Google Maps shows long queues on the M1 as the traffic builds up, and there are also delays on the M69, Traffic cameras around J21A for Leicester Forest East show a significant build-up of traffic. Traffic is also queueing on the camera between J22 and J21A.There's also slow traffic on the southbound side near to where the crash has happened. Queues are building on the eastbound M69, as well.
