Patrick’s campaign released an ad in an attempt to blunt criticism of Republicans over the February 2021 outages that killed over 200 Texans.
An ad about the grid could seem like a gamble, given that Patrick’s Democratic challenger, Mike Collier, has adopted the mantra “Manny Garcia, a former director of the Texas Democratic Party, said Patrick’s latest ad is about polling. A recent Dallas Morning News/University of Texas at Tyler poll showed nearly half of Texans — 48% —“What he is likely seeing is that Mike Collier, who is an energy expert and has been talking about this for years, is gaining traction,” Garcia said.
Unsurprisingly, Collier challenged Patrick’s characterization of his leadership on the power grid Wednesday.
