20 years ago, the biggest names in music flocked to Edinburgh
As well as winning the Best Song and Best R&B awards, Beyoncé performed her song Baby Boy with Sean Paul.Today, it may seem like a run-of-the-mill mall, but just a couple of decades ago it was quite the destination. In fact, it was such a hot spot that it hosted one of the biggest award shows in music — the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards.
Held in a 6,000-capacity big top arena just outside of the shopping centre, the event saw dozens of the biggest names in music flock to theHosted by Christina Aguilera, the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards saw performances from the likes of Beyoncé, Kylie Minogue, Missy Elliott, The Black Eyed Peas, Kraftwerk, The White Stripes, and Pink.
Many other A-listers were in attendance, with Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Michael Stipe, André 3000 of Outkast, and Vin Diesel among those presenting and receiving awards.
