Huskie teams in playoffs
It was the final weekend of Canada West regular season action for the Huskie teams as they both hosted the University of Winnipeg Wesmen over the weekend.
Saskatchewan finishes the season with a 14-2 record and the No. 1 spot in the East division. They’ll host three other teams in the first round of playoffs March 4-6. The top two teams after that round-robin tournament will advance to the next round.The Huskies defeated the Wesmen 3-1 on Friday, winning the opening sets 25-20 and 25-21 before dropping the third set 25-23 and rebounding to claim victory with a fourth set win 25-10.
The Huskies won 4-2 on Saturday and earned the series-sweeping victory on Saturday night, shutting out the Bisons 3-0. Meanwhile, the No. 4 men’s hockey Dogs are in a must-win situation as they take on the No.5 University of Calgary Dinos in Game 3 of their quarter-final series on Sunday night at 7 p.m. at Merlis Belsher Place.
Playoffs will start March 5 with the fourth-ranked Stars hosting the fifth-ranked Bears for Game 1 of their best-of-five series.
