Birmingham Airport has been closed this evening
A flight bound for Belfast this evening has been diverted back to its original starting point after reports of a 'suspicious object' being found on board.
The spokesperson said: "We can confirm that an undeclared item discovered on Aer Lingus Regional flight EI3647, operated by Emerald Airlines, from Birmingham to Belfast today was not a security risk. Our teams are currently working to accommodate impacted passengers.
The flight diverted back to Birmingham Airport due to a security incident onboard is Aer Lingus flight EAG47S.
