Mr Jones, 55, from Hale, denies two counts of rape
The jurors are read a statement from the husband of one of Mr Jones’ accusers, referred to as Woman B. He said he recalled having a conversation with his wife after she had read a story in Cheshire Life, and she had mentioned ‘an incident in her past’ and a man in the magazine article named Lawrence Jones. The witness said his wife said Jones ‘gave her something’ which made her feel ‘strange’ and that they had sex.
He recalled his wife appeared ‘anxious’ when she was talking to him and that he didn’t ask any questions as he didn’t want to ‘bring it up again’ and he ‘didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable about it’. The witness said that about a year later his wife read an online article but that his wife didn’t go into further detail. He said he didn’t want to bring up the subject and that he left it up to his wife to speak about the incident.
