UN Says More Than 500,000 Refugees Have Fled Ukraine, AirBnB Offers To House 100,000 People Monday it’s offering temporary accommodation for 100,000 refugees fleeing Ukraine.
Executives at the company including CEO Brian Chesky are in touch with leaders from Poland, Hungary, Romania and Germany to offer “support in welcoming refugees within their borders,” AirBnB said. is committing to facilitate short-term housing for up to 100,000 refugees fleeing Ukraine, it will work closely with governments to best support the specific needs in each country, including by providing longer-term stays.
AirBnB’s charitable arm previously assisted in temporary housing for more than 21,000 refugees fleeing Afghanistan, and others from across the world, it said. Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is in Belarus to assist talks between Russia and Ukraine, theThesaid Abramovich—who is also an Israeli citizen—has close ties with the Jewish communities in Ukraine and Russia.
In the lead up to the meeting Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed some skepticism noting that he does not believe that there will be any positive outcome.
