Xavier loved playing baseball, his obituary says. His grandmother, Amelia Sandoval, told ABC News that her grandson was an energetic prankster who loved to dance Cumbia.“He was just a loving ... little boy, just enjoying life, not knowing that this tragedy was going to happen,” his cousin, Liza Garza, said to the Associated Press. “He was very bubbly, loved to dance with his brothers, his mom. This has just taken a toll on all of us.
Uvalde families have been laying loved ones to rest for more than a week now, many of them at Hillcrest Cemetery like Annabell and Xavier. Nine-year-old Eliahna Amyah Garcia’s funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church was Monday morning. She was buried at Hillcrest Cemetery.“She was very happy and very outgoing,” her aunt, Siria Arizmendi, a fifth-grade teacher at Flores Elementary School in the same district, told the Associated Press. “She loved to dance and play sports. She was big into family, enjoyed being with the family.”Those who laid Annabell to rest Wednesday were among many across Uvalde crying for victims.
In the town square, a handful of mourners walked around the massive memorial of flowers, candles, stuffed animals and crosses. Tanya Villarreal, 45, and friend Christina Ochoa, 40, came with their teenage daughters. The group of four from Harlingen had been on a vacation to Concan and decided to make paying their respects in Uvalde part of the journey.
