Lithium Americas, now Lithium Americas (Argentina) and a new Lithium Americas (NewCo) on Tuesday jointly announced the completion of the reorganisation of Lithium Americas into two independent publicly traded companies. “We look forward to seeing these two market-leading companies thrive independently,” said Lithium Americas (NewCo) president and CEO Jonathan Evans.

Slumping lithium prices signal angst over China’s demand outlookLithium prices are spiraling down toward the lowest level in two years on concerns over the strength of Chinese demand for the material, a key ingredient in electric vehicle batteries. Prices of lithium carbonate in China fell to 166 500 yuan ($22 814) a ton last Wednesday, ahead of the Golden Week holidays, a loss of almost half from the recent peak in early June. The decline has been precipitous. Less than a year ago, the metal reached a record of 598 000 yuan a ton.

Sigma Lithium questions reporting on Brazil mineral rights 'injunction'Sigma Lithium on Friday challenged a Reuters report that a Brazilian court had imposed an 'injunction' on its ability to sell or mine two plots where it planned open pits, and reiterated that it saw no hurdle to its expansion plans.
