New album reunites with Sons of Fathers bandmates and his actual father
When I think of David Beck, I first think of an absolute killer of an upright bassist. But the second thing that comes to mind is: comfort. He’s got this cozy voice and warmhearted nature as a songwriter.
"So when they retired, about a year ago, it felt like there was a vortex in my world, an empty space. It made me think about how much I love all those songs and that type of music. All that was a really big inspiration for me to go, ‘Okay that’s what I want to do next. I want to make the best semi-country, Texas songwriter record I possibly can because I haven’t really tried to do that yet.' So it’s basically an offering to the singer-songwriter gods.
