Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told former President Donald Trump to support President Joe Biden's negotiations with Saudi Arabia.
Graham said that he urged Trump to support Biden's major peace proposal between Saudi Arabia and Israel, along with increased cooperation between the United States and the kingdom, per Axios. The deal requires two-thirds of the Senate's support, and many Democrats are highly critical of both Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Graham further claimed that Trump appreciated his message to him that it's"the highest form of flattery" when a president follows his predecessor's policy. The South Carolina senator was referring to the Abraham Accords, a historic peace agreement between Israel and many of the Arab states. Graham spoke with Trump sometime after traveling to Saudi Arabia in April.Jared Kushner, widely seen as one of the chief architects of the Abraham Accords, also urged Trump to endorse Biden's deal. Graham suggested that the Biden administration sees Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, as helpful in its efforts.
"Jared Kushner has been very helpful. He had some ideas for the Palestinians . I know that he's offered to help. I think the White House sees him as helpful," Graham said.
