Lincolnshire is recycling less than pre-pandemic, but the tips will still be closed for two days a week
Lincolnshire County Council wants to reduce its recycling targets after a decline in rates — despite the end of Covid restrictions.
Instead, the target for this year will be 44% – a 6% drop – increasing slowly to 50% again by 2025/26. “Whilst these effects have decreased during the year, it appears likely that we’re seeing a “new normal” – e.g. resulting from more people working from home. The report, however looks at the percentage of waste recycled rather than overall tonnage of waste, so does not note if this has had an impact on the amount of waste through its doors.
