Liliana Scott spent decades behind the bar at The Festival Inn, in Trowell
A 93-year-old woman has returned to the Nottinghamshire pub she worked in for more than 50 years to pull a pint one last time. Liliana Scott spent 51 years as a barmaid at The Festival Inn, in Ilkeston Road, Trowell.
It was an emotional moment for all who gathered to see Liliana return to the pub once again.“It’s something she deserves,” said daughter, Anna Follows. The 70-year-old said: “It was brilliant, she kept her eye on me. It was just the speed that she could pull pints and make shorts up and that. It was a cocktail bar but they weren’t cocktails like there are now. It’s popular now, but people used to have vodka and orange, rum and coke.”
“That’s the beauty of mum, she taught herself English, taught herself how to read, and write and she just did it.” The 64-year-old added: “She’s a real strong cookie my mum is, she never complains or anything, she just got on with anything. They said it was a result of covid.”
