“To make a film like this, you have to reinvent the image. The reference I chose was ‘Blade Runner,’ which is set in L.A. in the future. I’m making a film set in L.A. in the past, but somehow it’s a sci-fi film. […] It was a good reference for the designers and camera team.” “I used to live in Laurel Canyon and where we filmed in Barcelona was a replica for Laurel Canyon,” he said. “The book was written by a dear friend of mine,” said Jordan. “We bought the rights for the book, and William Monahan wrote a wonderful script, but I thought there was not enough complexity in the script, and said can I have a go. We ended up with the script we have.”“I was desperate to work with Jessica Lange,” he said.
