James Horncastle speaks to the Scotland international about playing in Serie A and life in Italy
Thiago Motta would like to stay a secret. Bologna’s manager has, tongue-in-cheek, asked local reporters if they’ll do him a favour and stop writing so much about their Scotland international. “Let’s keep him hidden,” Motta recommended. Doing so, however, is becoming harder and harder. Advertisement Bologna are unbeaten since the opening day of the season — their best start in more than 20 years.
“One that is just rolling off the tongue is ,” he says, “because he plays in midfield, he scores goals, he’s that sort of player that’s everywhere — he’s all over the pitch, he runs, he tackles. He’s a good passer, he scores. He’s got everything and is one of the best players in the world right now. He’s one of the guys in my position I’d look at and say that’s the top level.
