Last year the city claimed to have created a resiliency hub in every district, but the diesel-powered generators the city bought instead of propane and solar installations do not meet the definition of a resiliency hub. When diesel is used, it creates local air pollution as well as further damaging the atmosphere.
Fortunately, we have family health insurance, but our son will age out of this coverage at 26 years. Our son will be our dependent for his lifetime and he should be considered “in our family” for insurance coverage. The columns on guns and school safety by Peggy Wehmeyer and Abby McCloskey made me sad. Our children carry the anxiety of gun violence with them every day to school. We have normalized gun violence in our society to the point that we just accept it. We do not try to do anything to reduce it. We just try to deal with it.I am sad because I know there are effective things that can be done to reduce gun violence but feel helpless because no one steps up to act.
