Re: “Arlington gun case set to be heard next year — 2nd Amendment suit centers on rights of domestic abusers to be able to have weapons,” July 1 news story....

This is a no-brainer. We deny guns to domestic abusers for a reason. He, especially, had shown that he has no business with a gun. He is not among the “all things equal” residents of Texas, most of whom have never been domestic abusers or committed gun infractions.

The moral is that presidential elections, like the one in 2016, can have consequences far beyond the incumbent’s stay in office. The U.S. Supreme Court seems to have forgotten something lately that used to be basic to every schoolchild. Does the concept of equal rights for all still mean anything?I am totally against allowing borrowers to renege on the terms of the loan they received to pay for their education. It’s called being an adult, which anyone borrowing money is considered to be.

Given the enormous role of the U.S. Supreme Court as final arbiter of what constitutional rights do and do not exist, it is distressing to see the dramatic politicization of the court in recent years. The legitimacy of the court is seriously in question. Change will only come through we the people taking an educated and active role in our democratic process.Mullen is right that nowhere in the U. S. Constitution is there enumerated a specific right to abortion. In Roe vs.

If questioned, the court declares it can take care of its own ethics standards, and how offensive that one would even ask. My non-lawyer understanding of how the Supreme Court operates and makes decisions has been upended. It is no wonder public confidence in the Supreme Court is the lowest — 25% in 2022 — on record.I’m just not understanding all the blowback from many about having to repay student loans.
