Re: “Texas senators, choose state over party — Public must be confident Paxton impeachment will be considered fairly, seriously,” Saturday editorial.Texas state GOP senators must think that they can fool voters. After two days of closed-door sessions, it was announced that the impeached attorney general’s trial rules included prohibiting his wife, Sen. Angela Paxton, from voting on whether or not her husband should be convicted. Sounds fair. Seems she surely would be conflicted.
To see a game at the stadium, you will need a debit or credit card and a smartphone to display your ticket . If you want to watch a game on television, you need to pay for cable or a streaming service. What if that submersible’s controversial design had been more thoroughly evaluated? Wouldn’t five people be alive today and wouldn’t undersea exploration be considered a much safer endeavor?What if the Supreme Court had an ethics code? Wouldn’t Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito be held accountable for their questionable behavior and our trust in the highest court in the land be restored?
What if our elected officials were in agreement that global warming is mankind’s greatest threat? Wouldn’t we all feel a little less concerned with the abundance of super-sized storms and once-in-a-century floods that are occurring with more frequency?
