East Bay Times Letters to the Editor for Oct. 16, 2022

As a retired Pleasanton Police captain who served for six months as interim police chief, I dedicated my career to enhancing public safety in our wonderful community. It is critical we continue to focus on providing a safe community for residents, schools and businesses.

With my 32 years of dedicated service and experience in keeping Pleasanton safe, I strongly encourage you to vote for Dean Wallace in District 1 and Joel Liu in District 3. They represent sound, thoughtful approaches to public safety, have been endorsed by the Pleasanton Police Officers’ Association, and understand that supporting our department with respectful listening and dialogue is supporting our community.

We have not been able to learn more from PG&E, even though many shut-offs occur when there is zero or near-zero wind. It appears, given our 10 shut-offs since March, that the new PG&E system is frequently triggering needlessly. My prediction: They rule for the abortion ban and the Supreme Court will not hear the case. Why? It’s a no-win situation. If they rule for the women, they have egg on their face for their abortion ruling. If they rule against them, they look like two-faced Constitution frauds because they’ve already made a ruling that strengthens religious freedom. It will look like they support religious freedom, but only for Christians.
