House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy should be questioned about a few things, including his role in the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol, says a reader.Your paper praised Beto O’Rourke daily. It didn’t work. You lambasted Gov. Greg Abbott daily. That didn’t work. Now you’re criticizing Donald Trump and Republicans every chance you get.
Do you see a pattern of things that don’t work? Elections are two years away. Please give us a break and get back to reporting the news.Major efforts are underway to cut employment to help cool the economy until inflation is greatly reduced. An immediate target should be to reduce the growth of the federal government. One easy way would be to delay the hiring of 87,000 IRS workers. That federal workforce reduction would reduce employment and would also stop the reduction of efficiencies that certainly will occur when additional inspectors start going through every business in the nation.
That’s an easy way to reduce employment, increase time on the jobs for working Americans and help with the overspending that is a hallmark of Democratic administrations.The United States should seal our borders and double or triple the quota of legal immigration, with a mandatory emphasis on the poor and politically oppressed.Re: “Only getting older,” Your Turn, Nov. 21:
Helen Henderson’s letter made me smile. To paraphrase a 2007 movie, it does look like ours is a “country for old men.”
