Ignoring former President Donald Trump could set up the country for another insurrection, according to a reader.House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s failure to join New York’s Republican leaders’ call for the resignation of campaign-liar George Santos is further proof of McCarthy’s lack of courage and judgment for the job.
Clearly, McCarthy has chosen to emulate “the ends justify the means.” After all, if Santos stays in Congress, McCarthy gains one more loyal party vote — the end that McCarthy apparently values over integrity.I have not heard anyone explaining the procedure to protect secret documents when released by the custodian to an authorized person. To view some documents, a secure room or Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility is entered. Cameras, phones and other electronics are prohibited.
Even libraries have a checkout and return system. If an item is not returned to the library, the borrower is contacted.
If these chain of custody procedures exist, doesn’t whoever passed these documents to the president have a duty to get it back? God help us if the president, Congress, agencies, etc., are bottomless pits where secret documents go to disappear.How can anyone think it is a good idea to “just ignore Trump”?When Donald Trump announced plans to run for president again, we could see a repeat of what happened Jan. 6. History shows us we must not move on!
