A Hawthorn Woods letter to the editor: I am writing to express my strong support for the April 4 Mundelein High School facilities referendum.
I am writing to express my strong support for the April 4 Mundelein High School facilities referendum. In order for our children and our community to thrive, we must ensure that our school is well-maintained, equipped and safe. Our school should reflect the modern strategies for teaching, learning and well-being, all of which support the success of our children.
The school facilities referendum offers a meaningful opportunity to accomplish these goals. It would provide much-needed funding to upgrade our Mundelein High School building, providing safer, more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing environment. It would equip our school with up-to-date auditorium and theater, kitchen and dining area and vocational training center.
In a post-COVID environment where learning has been disrupted and challenging, we owe it to our children, our teachers, and the administration to provide facilities that create an enhanced sense of community. Furthermore, investing in our schools is an investment in our entire community. The presence of well-maintained and appropriately equipped schools helps to attract new residents and businesses, as well as increases home values. Additionally, safe, modern environments help students feel secure and supported; this, in turn, can foster academic and personal success.
For these reasons and more, I encourage everyone to vote yes on the April 4 Mundelein High School referendum. Together, we can make a positive difference for our students and for our entire community. The time is now, vote yes.
