Letter: The rich in America have been buying our unqualified politicians since the Constitution was written. Utah’s contingent is a perfect example.

Even though I was born in Britain, I would have supported the revolution. I know that I would love to see another one — against the rich who continue to take advantage of our poor who often have to work two or three jobs to make ends meet. A peaceful revolution this time through the ballot box.

Unfortunately, the rich are one step ahead — they have bought the majority of our senators and congressmen by funding their candidacy in an undemocratic system where the biggest spender has always won in excess of 90% of the seats in Congress. Moreover, they have allowed TV stations like Fox to misrepresent the truth to favor Republicans. As a result, many — maybe most — of our legislators are nowhere near being up to the task. Donald Trump is outstanding in that regard.

Fortunately for Trump, American memories are short. Obviously most Trump supporters have forgotten that after Trump’s previous stint as president he was voted the worst American president ever by our major allies — his 13.1% rating was probably higher than he deserved. Are you looking forward to four years of a Trump dictatorship? Four years where he ignores the opinion of all his second-rate aides — as he did last time and is doing now as a candidate.Frank Fish, Taylorsville
