When I was a child, my street didn’t have a neighbourhood watch. But we did have a neighbourhood witch. Genuinely. They will drive you to the station, lend you their blender, offer up any weird things that came in their online shopping, come and fix a leaking sink, print something out for you, put together flatpack furniture and look after your children.
