The city council scheme aims to to protect tenants and improve living conditions
By Will Jefford & Hannah RichardsonHazards were found in almost half of the inspections carried out under a new city landlord licensing scheme.
Under the scheme, landlords renting out homes in parts of Westcotes, Fosse, Braunstone Park, Rowley Fields, Stoneygate and Saffron wards now have to register with the council, which will then send inspectors out to make sure the properties are up to scratch.Of the inspections which have identified issues, 40% resulted in a licence being refused.
