A round-up of what the national outlets had to say after Leeds United's huge Championship win
Georginio Rutter dominated the national headlines after his strike earned Leeds United all three points at Leicester City. The travelling Whites fans were treated at the King Power Stadium as Daniel Farke claimed another huge scalp on the road.
As expected, there was plenty of national coverage as two former Premier League clubs went head-to-head in the Midlands. This is how they reacted as Farke’s Leeds rebuild took another promising step. The Daily Mail highlighted how Georginio Rutter has personified the turnaround under Farke in recent weeks. Ross Heppenstall wrote: “Daniel Farke has cut an impressive figure since arriving at Leeds United during a turbulent summer, but this was his team's most emphatic statement yet.
“For he has come to symbolise the new chapter being patiently written by Farke and his popularity with Leeds fans continues to soar. The 21-year-old Frenchman cut a hapless figure after arriving in January from Hoffenheim for a club-record £35.5million. “Clearly Leicester will be frustrated tonight but they clearly have enough quality to overcome most teams at this level; Leeds probably needed it more tonight, and they executed their game plan very well. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see both teams back in the top flight next season.”Writing for Sky Sports, Dan Long focused on the Foxes’ failure to cement their grip at the top of the table. Despite losing, Leicester remain in pole position by five points.
